In the 1960s, China began to develop and produce polyaluminium chloride on a large scale. With the enhancement of environmental protection awareness, polyaluminium chloride is more and more used in drinking water purification and other industrial wastewater treatment. Polymerized ferric sulfate was researched and developed in the 1980s, and gradually applied in China in 2000, and gradually became a new type of coagulant.

1、 Principle of action

Both of them belong to inorganic polymer coagulant. One is iron system, and the other is aluminum system. The principle of purifying water quality is basically the same. After being added into the water body, the fine suspended solids, colloidal substances or animal and vegetable oils in the water are removed by hydrolysis, electric neutralization, colloidal adsorption and other actions, so as to achieve the effect of purifying water quality.

2、 Advantages and disadvantages

1. Polyferric sulfate: compared with polyaluminum, it has the advantages of lower cost, large and dense alum, better sedimentation and clear effluent. The disadvantages are stronger acidity and slightly worse chroma of effluent.

2. Polyaluminum chloride: the advantage of polyaluminum chloride is that the treated effluent is clearer, but the cost of the agent is much higher than that of polyferric sulfate.

3、 Poly ferric sulfate can replace poly aluminum chloride

1. Used for physicochemical coagulation to remove suspended solids and colloidal substances: because the action principles of these two agents are similar, so as long as they are used for coagulation treatment, PFS can basically replace polyaluminum chloride. Such as ceramic wastewater, site slurry, metal processing industry wastewater, paint wastewater treatment.

2. For phosphorus removal: the phosphorus removal effect of PFS is significantly better than that of PACl, and the cost of phosphorus removal agent is lower. Such as urban sewage, surface treatment industry wastewater, food industry wastewater, slaughterhouse wastewater phosphorus removal. In the past, polyaluminum chloride was used to treat the wastewater, but the effect of phosphorus removal was not good and the cost of the reagent was high.

3. It is used for deep removal of COD in papermaking, chemical industry and food industry.

4. It is used for deep conditioning of sludge.
